WSU Pullman's Bryan Hall

Bryan Hall History

Bryan Hall was built in 1909, and is the dominant structue of the historic campus core. In the center of campus, the clock tower in Bryan Hall shines a bright red light over Pullman at night.

Bryan Hall was originally built as the principal library and assembly hall, commemorating Dr. E.A. Bryan, who was the University president from 1893 to 1916.

J.K Dow was the architect who designed Bryan Hall and was from Spokane. He followed traditions already established at WSU, but still gave the building unique character.

The clock tower is related to the Italian Campanile, with the bracketed eaves and the rounded arch windows, creating a beautiful place to attend school.

Some still claim that the ghost of Dr. E.A. Bryan still lurks in Bryan Hall today, with plenty of stories of students having encounters with him in his beloved rocking chair.
